For those of us in Indianapolis, we saw a number of teams from Indiana showcased at the Adidas Invitational. This week for us was one where we wanted to find those deeper talents and look for guys that we hadn’t spent as much time on in the Spring. So, today we have our look at those in the class of 2022 from the Adidas Invitational from this past weekend.
Jackson Bobo – 6’6 PF 2022 – Lawrenceburg (IN) – Indiana Legends 2022
Jackson is a thin, long forward who has the kind of agility and athleticism that will allow him to do a lot. And he does right now handling the ball to slash, drive into the mid-range and step in to shoot from distance. He’s going to have to add a lot of strength but the frame is long and tall right now which helps to give him some projection as a scoring forward.
Dirin Birhiray – 6’3 SF 2022 – Carmel (IN) – GPP Silver 2022
Darin is a long, thin wing who has the handles and finishing ability to end up a really productive player. He does look taller and stronger since the beginning of the AAU season and shows that the frame could fill out quickly here. His speed with the ball in his hands looks good and he’s looking even more creative in the lane. Has a ton of upside if he can tap into some shooting over the next couple years.
Andrew Gray – 6’4 SF 2022 – Avon (IN) – GPP Silver 2022
Andrew is a tall wing shooter with some great mobility and developing game. He was a little wild at times and will have to learn to reel things in a bit. However, the skill and agility is there to make some plays. Did really well when under control shooting the ball. Has a bit of a short stroke on his jumper but does work for him right now. May grow quite a bit still and be more of a forward long term.
Kaeb Dosher – 6’5 PF 2022 – Mt. Vernon-Posey (IN) – DistinXion 2022 Black
Kaeb is a big, physical put together forward with some solid mobility and strength. Moves well around the perimeter and looks like he could grow on the wing especially if he grows taller. Can be solid on the boards but does get pulled away from the rim a little right now so production might look better in high school. Doesn’t yet have a defined offensive skill set but should develop pretty quickly here.
Hayden Cutter – 6’4 SF 2022 – Scottsburg (IN) – IE Side 2022
Hayden is a big, strong wing forward who can physically overpower his own age level right now. He’s a well-built kid and knows how to use that to impact the game. More of a faced up forward that will play inside the arc. Rebounds at a pretty solid level and works hard on the offensive end to make 2nd chance opportunities. Aggressive with nice touch around the rim. Playmaker who might just need to work on stretching the floor a bit.
Nathan Goss – 6’4 PF 2022 – Owen Valley (IN) – DistinXion 2022 White
Nathan is a long, lean forward with a great frame and some strength on board already. Moves really well and can play defensive on the wing a bit. Good, mobile athlete that should be pretty versatile as he develops.
Ryan Caddell – 6’2 SG 2022 – Evansville North (IN) – DistinXion 2022 White
Ryan is a big, tough wing shooter with a. Ton of strength on the frame now. Has great touch out to three and can rip off a jumper really quick. Good in short spaces where he can get his shot off.
Jonathan Ricketts – 6’5 PF 2022 – North Posey (IN) – DistinXion 2022 White
Jonathan is a big, physically advanced prospect in the post. So well built and uses his body really well. Has added a nice spin move where he can throw it in the middle of the lane to finish getting to the rim from 15’ out. Looks more comfortable faced up but when he can get touches on the low block, he is too tough to beat at this stage. Rebounds really well with some solid athleticism. While probably closer to being physically tapped out, skill could still go a long way here.
Alex Schaffer – 6’5 PF 2022 – Heritage Hills (IN) – DistinXion 2022 Black
Schaffer is a long, lean forward with great mobility and some good defensive ability. He’s pretty quick and can get all over the place and effect the game on the defensive end. Good weak side shot blocker and puts in energy and effort on the boards. Plays faced up and backed down on the offensive end. Need to see a little more to see if he can stretch but he looks like his body will allow him to develop pretty well.
Elijah Davis – 6’1 SG 2022 – Mishawka Marian (IN) – Tipping Point 2022
Davis is a big, strong guard with good jumper and some handles. More suited to play off the ball but can handle things well enough. Showed he can pull-up a big if left open and the mechanics look good. Physically, he can be imposing on other guards. Has good speed and should be one deeper prospect to watch moving forward.
Jordan Turner – 6’1 PG 2022 – Cardinal Ritter (IN) – BC Grind 2022
Jordan is a long, lanky lead guard who plays with a ton of pace and decisiveness. Love to attack the rim and has some solid ability to slash but lacks the strength right now to finish through that contact. When he plays in the open floor, he really can fly and gets to the rim or can find the man to dish it off. Want to see if the shooting ability is there but could be a guy to watch in the class.
Caleb Grow – 6’2 SF 2022 – New Castle (IN) – BC Grind 2022
Caleb is a mobile wing with a good frame and some strength right now. Showed that he can hit a nice dribble-in pull-up from mid-range. Shot looks good and projectable for a shooter. Does look like he could grow quite a bit still and turn into a forward long term.
Kelson Steinborn – 6’5 C 2022 – Plainfield (IN) – BC Grind 2022
Kelson is a tall post player who looks ready to be a low post project. Was really solid with his back to the basket and had some footwork and hands to make plays. A little slow of a first step and doesn’t look right now like he will transition to a wing shooter but still pretty raw.
