For those of us in Indianapolis, we saw a number of teams from Indiana showcased at the Adidas Invitational. This week for us was one where we wanted to find those deeper talents and look for guys that we hadn’t spent as much time on in the Spring. So, today we have our look at those in the class of 2021 from the Adidas Invitational from this past weekend.
Aidan Thompson – 6’7 C 2021 – Heritage Christian (IN) – GPP Silver 2021
Aidan is a long, really skinny post player who did look a bit more impactful than we saw in the spring. He was more active as a low post defender and getting up and down the floor better. He’s a decent enough athlete but is now starting to utilize his length better defensively showing an ability to come across for some weak side blocks. Really long, at least +4”. Offensively, he’s going to be a project for a bit but any amount of strength for him will go a long way.
Bryce Beery – 6’2 SG 2021 – Carmel (IN) – IE North 2021
Beery is a tough, off-guard who has a capable jumper and a good frame on the wing. Showed he has the capabilities to play on the ball a bit, some creativeness and toughness. Plays with some pace. Slashes decently well and can really be a guy down the road that can make some plays for others.
Kyle Reasoner – 6’3 SF 2021 – Zionsville (IN) – IE North 2021
Kyle is a big wing with some strength and versatility. While he doesn’t have overpowering size, he was able to make plays around the rim with his toughness and skill. Good offensive rebounder who can track the ball well and make a play after the board. Good mobility and stretch to his game to also play on the wing.
Quinton Boyd – 6’6 PF 2021 – North Central (IN) – IE North 2021
Boyd is a big post player with some touch out to three and a frame he can throw around inside. A little bit of development with the frame will go a long way as he does move well and can get some spacing outside. But, he’s got the kind of body that should be doing more work in the post and once that balance shows, the overall game will look better. Did show he can pull-up from three. Not a highly creative ball handler but enough to make a play.
Brian Waddell – 6’5 SF 2021 – Carmel (IN) – IE North 2021
Brian is a long, lanky wing who might just be starting to come into his own. Big time shooter who has been a little passive but looked much more engaged in AAU. Did show some slashing ability, driving away from the ball to catch and finish. Frame needs strength like crazy but with more willingness to play physical, some of that concern could go away. Good size and length and a projectable game long term.
Johnny Brunk – 6’2 SG 2021 – Roncalli (IN) – Grind Premier 2020
Brunk looks more confident and strong with the ball in his hands right now. He’s not looking like he will get a ton taller but his frame is so strong and filled out so physically playing up a level doesn’t hurt him. His jumper continues to be his best offensive weapon and the lefty can really let it fly at times. Handles could keep him playing on the ball for a bit but he’s far from what he will be in college so it is more about the skill that is showing right now and it’s starting to shine a bit more each time out.
Jeremiah Lovett – 6’2 SG 2021 – Munster (IN) – Indiana Game 2021-Chemma
Lovett is a big, bruising guard with some handles and enough toughness to be strong at the rim. Not a ton of overall speed but does have that size and toughness in the lane. Handles are pretty good and will allow him to play out on the wing to get some open looks. He plays a bit liken offense-first guard and has shown at times to be able to fill it up. Trying to figure out his skill set and how to balance it all but the raw skill is there now.
