The 2020 class has improved so much top to bottom since the high school season. I expect really big things from these senior athletes this season. Having said that… there are 5 prospects that have really impressed me in June and July:
Jalen Myers- Myers is one of the most improved players in the state. He elevated his play in June and July, and his efforts are seeing fruits now. Auburn has recently offered the small forward. This kid plays hard, can score the ball, and bangs on the glass. He is listed at 6’7, but he may be shorter.
Giancarlo Valdez- I love how this kid plays. Gian is a dog on both ends of the court. He competes and does what his team needs him to do. As a coach, you can not watch Gian and not love his style. I have been really impressed with his improved playmaking and his shot selection.
Sam Youngblood- Sam has turned it up a notch. This kid is a scorer, plays with confidence, and is not afraid of big moments. Every shot he takes, is taken confidently. Youngblood has made solid improvements as an on ball defender and as a playmaker.
Chance Beard- Beard is a 6’5-6’6 forward who just plays the game the right way. This kid only knows how to play hard. He is a high academic kid who right now is a high level D2 prospect. Beard runs the floor, defends, rebounds, and does all the little things right.
Sedrick Pettway- Pettway is quietly becoming a force to deal with. He is athletic and can score the ball from all 3 levels. His biggest question marks are playmaking and off ball defense. Right now Pettway is a D2 and NAIA level prospect, but if this kid keeps progressing, LM level schools may come knocking.
