Here are the top Sunshine State performers from UAA:
2021 Mike Trigg (Seffner Christian/Florida Vipers)
The 6-foot-3 Trigg (pictured, right) shot 8 for 8 from the field on the way to 19 points in a tight 54-52 16U victory over KC Run GMC. Trigg showed his athleticism in pouring in 25 points (to go along with 4 rebounds and 4 assists) in a 65-61 loss to New Heights NYC. The University of South Florida has already offered Trigg for basketball and football. Iowa State is showing major interest.
2020 Miguel Selton (West Oaks/Team Breakdown)
The muscular 6-5 Selton was one of the few who shot it well for Breakdown on Day 1, going a combined 12 for 23 (four 3-pointers) on the day in 17U play.
Selton put up 19 points and 4 rebounds in a 70-49 loss to Philly Pride and came back with 12 points and 4 rebounds in a 55-41 defeat at the hands of Team Charlotte. Arkansas State, FIU, Iowa State, James Madison, Kansas State, Tennessee Tech and USF have offered Miguel.
2020 Javier Ezquerra (IMG Blue/Florida Vipers)
Ezquerra will not wow you with his size, but the 5-10 guard has an excellent handle and can shoot lights out from 3-point land. Ezquerra connected on 6 of 10 from the floor (6 of 7 on 3-pointers) and had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in a 17U 61-60 victory over NYC New Heights. He was 5 of 10 (3 of 6 on 3s) for 13 points in a 59-54 loss to Minnesota Grassroots Sizzle.
2022 Deshawn Jean-Charles (Miramar/Team Breakdown)
The 6-6 Jean-Charles averaged 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists in two 15U games. Faheim Meran averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.
2022 Ben Middlebrooks (Westminster Academy/Florida Vipers)
The 6-9 big continues to progress after having a huge state championship for Westminster back in March. Middlebrooks was 6 of 6 from the field en route to an 18-point performance in a 54-52 W over KC Run GMC. FGCU has already offered.
2019 Noble Crawford (Scotland Campus/Showtime Ballers)
The 6-5 Crawford, who graduated from Orlando West Oaks in 2019 and is going to attend prep school at Scotland Campus in Pennsylvania, scored 17 points in a 69-56 17U loss to Powerhouse Hoops of Arizona. Crawford can both shoot and get to the rim — he canned two 3s. He said he has been offered by UNC Greensboro, which was in the gym Thursday. Crawford said he is going to prep school because he just picked up the game of basketball in the last couple years. He wants to use next season as a year of development.
