This invite-only camp featured some of the best prospects from states within the region. Brandon Jenkins was in on all of the action and highlights the top Texas power forwards and big men who stood out during the live period event:
(Alphabetical Order)
Grayson Buehler 6’5″ 2020 Memorial (Houston, TX): I loved Buehler’s aggression on the court. He seemed lighter on his feet and never hesitated to put his head down and attack. The inside-out forward also made some nice defensive plays.
Valentin Catt Valentin Catt 6'9" | C Orangefield | 2020 State TX 6’9″ 2020 Orangefield (Orange, TX): The mobile rim protector looked to dunk everything he possibly could. He is developing a repertoire of moves on the low block and is still learning how to make the right reads when he receives an entry feed.
Zach Clemence 6’9″ 2020 Sunrise Christian (San Antonio, TX): The four-star forward rebounded everything in & outside of his area and was active defensively. He operated inside & extended his game out to the college three. Clemence possesses great hands to catch and finish inside. He also rolled to the basket hard and finished with ease in pick and roll situations. He once again captured the eyes of national scouts in attendance.
Ben Joelson Ben Joelson 6'6" | PF Flower Mound Marcus | 2020 State TX 6’7″ 2020 Heritage (Colleyville, TX): The recent Army West Point de-commit impressed me with his slight deceptive athleticism. He moves well, looked to put the ball on the floor and attack late closeouts. Joelson is solid floor-spacing four-man who competes for boards.
Nate Lacewell Nate Lacewell 6'7" | PF Houston Legacy | 2020 State TX 6’7″ 2020 Legacy (Houston, TX): His length and ability to stroke the three at that size had multiple coaching staffs intrigued. The trim-built forward was keeping defenses honest with his shooting from long range. Many would agree that his upside is clear as day, but he needs to be more aggressive in mixing it up inside and competing on the glass.
Gethro Muscadin 6’10″ 2020 Aspire Academy (Plano, TX): No prospect’s recruitment blew up more than Muscadin’s. He is in serious consideration for entering four-star status after his camp performances. Muscadin swatted everything in sight and finished in transition after rebounding and sprinting the floor. The most surprising asset to his game was his ability to step out and hit the three. Houston, Kansas State, Minnesota, New Mexico, St. Louis, Tulsa, and VCU all have extended offers to the late-rising big man.
Walker Timme Walker Timme 6'5" | PF J.J. Pearce | 2021 State TX 6’7″ 2020 J.J. Pearce (Richardson, TX): Like his brother (Gonzaga freshman center) Drew Timme, Walker Timme was extremely efficient inside the painted area. He displayed a soft touch by finishing with over the shoulder jump hooks and scoop layups in traffic. He was mobile in getting up and down the floor to catch and finish plays on the break.
Jordan Walsh Jordan Walsh 6'7" | SF Link Academy | 2022 #31 Nation MO 6’6’ 2022 Faith Family (Cedar Hill, TX): The camp committee and other non-Texas based media quickly realized that Walsh had the most upside of all prospects in attendance. The future top-100 national prospect has a lot of tools in his bag and continues to ooze with production and potential.
