Moving On. Mitchell Goodbary, Gavin Schipper, and Mitch Oostra started for the Chargers with Collin Reitsma, Parker Nelson, and Dawson Mulder coming off the bench. That means the Chargers have to replace six of their eight rotation players.
Returning Starters. The reason the Chargers will still be considered contenders is the talent of 5-foto-11 junior Xavier Van Beek and senior 6-foot-7 big Zach Witte. Van Beek will stretch defenses, handle the ball, and be an active defender for SF Christian while Witte is going to be the double double threat. Witte a double figure scorer with a touch that can stretch to the arc but he’s also a talented finisher in the paint.
Reserves Playing a Bigger Role. Three starting jobs will be up for grabs and the players with a step forward on those spots are 5-foot-9 senior Noah Van Steedum, 6-foot-2 junior wing Tyler Prins, and 6-foot-4 junior frontcourt player Noah Van Donkersgoed. These are the three players that were on the floor when the team stretched the rotation a bit further plus they played JV.
More Potentials from the JV. The Chargers 2021 group has several other players to look to for varsity depth. Six-foot-2 wing Collin Harmelink, six foot guard Easton Prins, and 6-foot-2 wing Andrew Dykstra all played JV this year. They will also compete for a starting spot and certainly have a chance to play off the bench. Looking for size? The next biggest player in the program is 6-foot-7 center Nathan Koole, a sophomore to be.
