There were three games in total, one girls and two boy’s games. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts from the second boys game.
1. Tai Rutledge – El Camino Real 2020
This incoming senior was a standout not so much for his scoring, which he can do, but for everything else that he does on the court. In a showcase game, he definitely showed off his ability to rebound and play defense. He’s a good defender in the paint and contests shots well. He also has the ability to switch defensively on the perimeter and cover guards. Sets screens for his teammates well. A tough, hard-nosed player.
2. Kyle Frelow – Heritage Christian 2021
An incoming junior, this young forward is bursting with potential. He’s barely scratching the surface of the player he could be. He averaged a double-double last season as a sophomore and also stood out for what else he does on the court besides scoring. He has great defensive instincts. He stays with his man on the drive and contests well. He attacks the glass well and helps get second chance opportunities. Plays with a ton of hustle and energy.
3. Nolan Boffman – Paraclete 2020
This incoming senior is capable of playing both guard positions. He can put up points in a hurry. He’s a great scorer on the perimeter with his range out to the three-point line. He can create his own shot and is good in the midrange as well. He has a quick release on his shot. Good instincts in knowing when to score and when to pass. He can also put the ball on the floor and make a play going to the rim.
4. Amado Coleman – Paraclete 2021
An incoming junior, he plays with a lot of strength. He’s a big guard who could also be a forward. He’s a great athlete in the open court and he sprints out on the break. He uses his strength well when he’s around the basket and he can finish with authority at the rim. He’s able to draw contact as well and get himself to the free-throw line. Tough player on the glass too.
5. Lucas Bagsik – St Genevieve 2021
A small but crafty point guard. This incoming junior is also a lights out shooter from the three-point line. Although he can score and shoot very well, his strengths appear to be his instincts as a point guard. He’s got great court awareness and has great vision. He’s constantly looking to create opportunities for his teammates. He’s got a little bit of flair to his passing game.
