There were three games in total, one girls and two boy’s games. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts from the first boys games.
1. Jordan Fuller – Village Christian 2020
A scoring point guard, he’ll be a senior this upcoming season. Just a little bit undersized at his position, but he definitely makes up for it with his tenacity and scoring prowess. He’s a good shooter who can create his own shot on the perimeter and has good range out to the three-point line. He is also adept at driving to the rim and being able to finish the play.
2. Matt Lee – Village Christian 2020
This incoming senior is a lights out shooter. If he’s given just an inch of separation, he’ll take and make the shot. He’s good at positioning himself out on the arc and squaring up once he’s caught the pass to take the shot. He runs the floor well and is good at spotting up at the three-point line in transition. He can also put the ball on the floor too and create for his teammates. Solid defender on the perimeter.
3. Hercy Miller – Oaks Christian 2021
Another explosive scorer, he should be one of the top players in his high school division next season. He can get into the lane with ease and is constantly looking to attack the basket. Once gets to the rim, he’s a very athletic finisher. He’s also good at drawing contact and getting himself to the free-throw line where he’s a great shooter. He can score from pretty much anywhere on the court.
4. Kyle Beedon – Campbell Hall 2021
Another good lights out shooter. He’s got the ability to play both guard positions. He spots up well behind the arc and puts himself in position to catch passes from his teammates. He’s got a quick release on his shot too, keeping defenders scrambling when he’s out on the perimeter. Good court instincts in terms of being able to facilitate and being able to look for his own shot. He plays very hard defensively on the perimeter and also isn’t afraid to guard players bigger than him.
5. Aaron Reyes – Sylmar 2020
This incoming senior is a very versatile big man with a good skillset. He runs the floor very well and is often one of the first out in transition. He is comfortable with his back to the basket and being able to score in the post. He can shoot too though and he’s got range out to the three-point line. He can also handle the ball and make plays off the dribble. He crashes the glass very well and plays hard on the defensive end too.
6. Dipa Salim – Grant 2021
A very good defensive player on the perimeter. This incoming junior does not back down on the defensive end. In showcase games, there isn’t always a lot of defense being played, but he definitely showed his ability on that end. He challenges players much bigger than him. Although he’s probably considered undersized, he makes up for it with his energy. He’s a blur in the open court and can create well on the break for his teammates.
