Tyrone Washington Jr receives a Pac-12 offer
This weekend I attended the ASU HS Team Camp. 62 teams battled it out from 5 states but many people, including myself, were wondering if any offers would come from the PAC-12 school.
Tyrone “Ty Ty” Washington Jr from Cesar Chavez HS has been lights out for two weeks straight. The Section-7 HS team camp live-period and then this weekend he impressed virtually every game in front of the coaching staff. Washington Jr guided his team to a 6-1 record before eventually losing the rematch to Millennium in the finals on Sunday, who they beat on Friday night.
After the final game, Head coach Bobby Hurley from Arizona State and two other assistant coaches (pictured) talked to him for about 5 mins and extended an offer.
He is a 6-foot-4 junior combo guard whose game comes so easy for him. He is going at his own speed despite how athletic or how many defenders other teams throw at him. He scores it in many ways. He can post you up and go to work, he can create his own shot off the dribble and rise up, he has a consistent deep ball off the catch and can drive it and finish with either hand through contact. His best thing about his game, besides his picture perfect pull-up, is his ability to make his teammates better. He throws pin point passes to cutters, open shooters or drops it off to his bigs. He is competitive on the defensive end with his length, strong hands and instincts.
I asked Washington Jr how he felt about the offer, and does he feel he belongs with the best guards in the country?
“I was excited with my first PAC-12 offer, and it was from my hometown,” Washington Jr said. “It felt really good!”
“I felt like I belonged before even getting that offer, and I can compete with the best of the best regardless. “
