Piedmont Classical Guard Qualeem Poindexter: Would classify him as a ‘‘pedal to the metal’’ type of guard after seeing him throughout the day. It seems as if he loves to push the tempo and catch the defense on their heels, using his speed to get quick and easy buckets. The impressive thing was that as much as he pushed the tempo, he didn’t really seem to get tired, he gave the effort on both ends throughout the day.
Salem Baptist Forward Shad Thomas: The 6’5 forward is new to the country and this was his first taste of US competition and we know he will only get better as time goes on. One thing that he did bring to the court was energy and rebounding, as he was constantly on the boards especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Eastern Guilford HS PG Kadyn Dawkins: Very impressive end to end speed, he understands how to play the game the right way as he is always keeping his head up and looking to make the correct play. He was efficient with the shots he got, knocking down the midrange shot as well as showing he can score the ball over taller opponents.
East Forsyth HS Guard Jalen Thorns: Another player that displayed some impressive athletic ability throughout the day, he played through contact and was able to convert on quite a few occasions. Has good lateral quickness and quick hands that he uses on the defensive side of the ball, solid overall showing.
Salem Baptist Guard Ethan Pegram: We like what he brings to the table as he has plenty of good qualities that you like to see in a Point Guard. He’s a gifted passer with good vision that doesn’t turn it over a ton, as well as being a good shooter, which was shown with the shots he was able to knock down from midrange and three point land.
Eastern Guilford HS Kamell Smith: From what we were informed, he is a standout player on the football field as well as the basketball court. There was a quite a few plays on the day where he showed his overall athletic ability and toughness that only confirmed what we had been told. Physical play didn’t affect him much at all and he showed the ability to be able to defend multiple positions.
Calvary Day Guard James Wilkins III: We believe that he will be called on quite a bit this season as the squads leading scorer has graduated and moved on to a D1 level college. He has plenty of the tools to be a successful player which include: ball handling, scoring, and solid defensive ability, this was our 2nd time seeing him and were just as impressed on this occasion as we were following the first performance.
RJ Reynolds Guard Caden Davis: When you’re matched up with him, our advice would be to keep your head on a swivel as he is a high flyer that will get a poster dunk in a heartbeat. Don’t be fooled though, he has much more to his game and that was on full display as he scored the ball at a high rate and even was on the distributor end of some very nice assists.
