I was able to attend the event all day on June 12 and I saw some top talent. Rebounding is an important and sometimes forgotten skill in basketball. Here’s a look at some of the top rebounders I saw that day.
1. Amado Coleman – Paraclete 2020
My second time seeing Coleman play, he once again stood out as a strong rebounder. He’s very strong and he uses that to his advantage when it comes to fighting for boards. He’s also very athletic and that also helps him when securing the glass. He’s able to crass the glass on both ends of the floor, he can secure a defensive rebound as well as create second shot opportunities for his teammates.
2. Kaleb Lowery – Santa Clarita Christian 2020
A very impressive athlete. He does a lot of damage on the offensive glass. He constantly puts himself in position to for tip-ins and second chance opportunities for his team. He’s got a great motor and is seemingly always in the right place. When he secures an offensive rebound, he’s looking to finish with authority. Great at using his positioning to box out properly.
3. Marcus Reedy – Ribet Academy 2020
Another impressive athlete that I got to see for the first time. Ribet Academy has no shortage of scorers on the roster, so it’s important to have other players who can make meaningful contributions in other areas. Reedy is particularly skilled on the glass. He keeps plays alive with his energy on the boards. He may not always secure a rebound, but one area he does well in is tapping the basketball back out to his guards to reset the offense.
4. Isaiah Brewington – Campbell Hall 2023
An incoming freshman, his game was looking very advanced for such a young player. He’s obviously got much room to improve and develop, but his immediate skills are very apparent. He’s a handful in the paint, especially when it comes to rebounding. He uses his size well and he possess good box out techniques rarely seen in players today. He follows misses well and secures second shot opportunities for his team.
5. Jordan – Beverly Hills
I was unable to get this player’s last name or class year, but what stood out to me the most from him was his knack for rebounding. He does most of his work on the boards on the offensive end. He’s got great timing when skying in for a rebound and he’s strong on the glass. He goes for tip-ins most of the time and when he does secure the board, he’s looking to finish with authority.
