The Verbal: Kasen Harrison
We were able to catch up with Kasen a few hours after he tweeted out his verbal commitment. Kasen is a PHTX100 top prospect ranked 58 in the state. He attends the newly formed high school of Beaumont United and plays summer ball for SBG. Kasen had a great junior year of high school ball. He led the Timberwolves to a 26-7 overall record, and they won the district with a 13-1 record. Averaged 15.1 points per game, 3 assists per game, 2.4 rebounds per game, and 2.3 steals per game. Shot 64% from the field, 32% from behind the arc, and 74% from the foul line.
Kasen is a tough-nosed on-ball defender. He is quick and shifty with the ball in his hands. Finishes well at the rim on contested lay-ins and absorbs the contact well. He is a prospect in whom creates for himself and his teammates. Plays with a high motor and is a vocal leader.
Kasen let’s start this first talking about the merger of the Beaumont schools? The merger of the schools was the best thing that could’ve happened for the community. It gives us a chance to become a powerhouse. Practices were better because we got to compete more with the talent that we had. You’re a top prospect in the Greater Houston area and in the State of Texas. What made Lamar standout more than other schools who were interested in you? Lamar is an amazing University. They have always shown me love and its right here in my hometown. That gives my family a chance to see me play college ball and also allows me to be able to see my family a lot. I also did it for my city and that’s why I chose to commit to Lamar. Everyone’s process is different, but how much of a stress reliever is it to have committed before the start of your senior season? It is a relief knowing that I am going to college for free. I can now focus more on my senior year of high school and try to get a state championship. Thank you for the interview. May God bless you with a great senior season and a productive collegiate career. Thank you.
