Led by their dynamic duo of 2021 guards Terance Harcum Jr. and Jamari Mann, they’ve got quite the pool of talent returning next season as they look to battle for the Northern Conference crown against the likes of Vance County and South Granville.
Harcum and Mann are both high major prospects with their own repertoire of moves at their disposal. Harcum is the leader of the pack with his ability to score on all three levels. He’s currently garnering interest from Ohio State, Lehigh and Charlotte to name a few and as his game continues to develop, he’s bound to garner more interest.
Mann is the most underrated of the two with his ability to fill it up in a hurry from deep. Their style of play on defense suits his ability to attack the rim and shoot it from behind the arc. He hasn’t garnered much interest yet, but 2019-20 should be a special season for him.
On the interior, 2021 forward Tyler Coley and 2020 forward J.J. Tilley are two players manning the frontcourt. Coley is an active defender in the post and a smooth operator in the pick-and-roll game as the screener. His ability to block shots and rebound will be huge for this group.
Tilley is another frontcourt player that plays hard and bangs in the post. He’s not shy about battling for rebounds nor is he shy about spotting up and knocking down 3’s from behind the arc.
2020 guard Seth Wade, 2021s J.R. Reed, Kalvin Johnson and 2020 Ihzayah Marcellus are some other prospects to keep an eye on. Depending on matchups, the fifth spot in the rotation could change from game to game.
Wade is a 3-point marksman that’s learning how to do a bit of everything, especially on defense. Reed is a crafty slasher and quite the shooter himself from deep. Johnson is the spark and instant offense when he’s on the floor. Marcellus is figuring out his role but the more he touches the floor, the more he looks like he belongs.
The Panthers will be in action this weekend at the NC D1 Recruiting Team Camp. They’re certainly a team to keep an eye on as one of the best in the state.
