The host team had a plethora of talent on full display throughout the weekend led by 2020 forward Nick Farrar. Farrar continued to show the development of his all-around game. His defense was stout alongside the rest of his teammates. The Patriots played with a smothering man-to-man defense with a number of traps thrown in.
Jayden Beloti, Apex Friendship2020 wing Jayden Beloti was another prospect that showed improvements since I saw him play during the 2019 high school postseason. Beloti is a nice sized wing at 6-foot-4 with an ability to get to the rim with ease and a smooth outside shot. His recruitment will be interesting to watch going forward. So far, he’s heard from New Hampshire, Wofford, Catawba and Barton College.
2021 guard Kenny Noland, 2020 guard Jeremiah Baker and 2020 guard Jackson Spencer were the other players in the rotation that made noise for the Patriots in the showcase. Noland has got some length to him on defense that he uses well, though he measures at just 5-foot-11. He’s a confident slasher and emerging shooter that should play a factor for Apex Friendship next season.
Jackson Spencer, Apex FriendshipSpencer is the fuel that drives the momentum for Apex Friendship with his gritty on-ball defense and knockdown ability from behind the arc. He’s typically involved in causing a lot of steals that led to big plays on the break.
Jeremiah Baker, Apex FriendshipSpeaking of making big plays on the break, Jeremiah Baker is a highlight reel in the making in that regard and then some. The ceiling is growing for Baker as he develops his outside shot but he’s a certified slasher and playmaker whose recruitment should go up this summer.
Another player to watch in the rotation is 2021 forward Trey Barker. He’s a 6-foot-2 forward that looked ready to go off the bench no matter the moment. He stretches the floor with his outside shot and After spending time on JV last season, look for him to play a big role on varsity in 2019-20.
