As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2022 class
Kyle Grill, 6’2, G, 2022, Maize
Grill is a player many have been waiting to see. He has good size for a point guard and a strong frame and build. He can get up around the rim when he needs to and is great in transition and on the move. He can operate as a scoring guard and has the handles and skill to run the point and run it well.
Monzae Downing, 6’3, G, 2022, Lawrence Free State
Downing is a talented guard with great lengths and nice handles. He is a facilitator who plays great defense on the ball. He’s strong and physical and likes to poke the ball out of the hands of his opponents and can finish on the other end. He can score for himself when he needs to but he prefers to get his teammates going quick and often.
Tyler Claiborne, 6’2, G, 2022, St. James
An excellent shooter on the rise, Clairborne has a nice feel for the guard position. He has good size and a good eye. he has a clean stroke and is very confident with the ball in his hands. He can drive and get to the basket some but makes a lot of noise as a shooter from distance.
Seth Madron, 6’2, G, 2022, McPherson
A solid player off the bench last season who can do a bit of everything for his team. He can score when he has an open look and is feeling confident and comfortable. He can handle it some and looks to pass to his teammates and inside just as often as the high post. he’s a hard defensive player and makes opponents stay on their toes when he’s in front of them.
Isaiah Hernandez, 5’10, G, 2022, Buhler
A good guard who is working hard on both sides of the floor. He has quick hands and can move his feet while and stay in front of the ball. He can shoot from distance at times and can get on the board as a rebounder and get some assist as well.
