Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2020 class
Max Close, 6’3, F, 2021, Shawnee Mission South
A smart player who is physical and plays much larger than his listed height. He has a nice solid basketball frame and can score really well around the basket. He is an active athlete who is moving off screens and urns a lot of respect through his hustle. A guy who will find wide open buckets.
Sam Derning, 6’2, G, 2021, Shawnee Mission West
another tough, physical player who is a strong defensive threat. He pays attention to the ball and is good at noticing schemes and not letting someone beat him on his weak side. He can also score in transition and get to the free-throw line and connect.
Harvey Davis Jr., 6’2, G/F, 2021, Shawnee Heights
One of the top players on the rise in the area, Davis Junior has great athleticism in the ability to play inside-out basketball. He is a good 3-point shooter and can defend multiple positions and do so at a high level. He can also score well and is an underrated passer. A guy who puts everything he has into the game.
Michael Cahill, 5’10, G, 2021, St. James Academy
An underrated guard who is stepping up and playing strong basketball. He plays with a good at PACE and has the ability to knock down open looks when the ball swings his way he’s a good ball-handler and a good defensive player. he can do a little bit of everything on the floor and is constantly improving the more he’s on the floor.
Dylan Henke, 5’10, 2021, Mill Valley, PAC Gold 16U
a hard-nosed guard who can handle the physicality of the game and be the aggressive one as well. I can shoot lights out when he finds his stroke and can get the ball inside and facilitate. He’s a strong defensive player and looks his best on the defensive side of the ball.
