As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2020 class
David Hammeke, 6’2, F, 2020, Ellinwood
A scorer who is good at using his body and selling contact. He has a nose for the ball and is good at rebounding and tipping the ball to his teammates. He can shoot well around the basket and uses his smarts to find openings and get his shot off. he can be a little undersized at times but he works hard and he doesn’t mind defending taller players who may have more experience in the position.
Weston Kraus, 6’6, F, 2020, Hutchinson
A tall, lanky forward who cleans up plays and looks to play big and block shots. He he has great size and is at his best when he’s confident and rolling the dice on the defensive end and looking to finish plays on the opposite end. When he plays to his size he has an advantage. When he’s confident and looking to score he can find openings.
John Johnson, 6’3, F, 2020, Dodge City
A flexible forward who has long arms and an athletic bounce. Johnson is undersized at times down low but has a flexibility and a nice combination of athleticism and smarts that give him an edge as a scorer and defender. He runs the floor and is solid in transition.
Caden Vinduska, 6’1, G/F, 2020, Rock Creek
Vinduska is a nice combo player who brings good defense to the floor and physicality. He can rebound well for his size and looks to keep the ball away from his opponents. He sacrifices himself for the play and is good at keeping plays alive.
Cooper Glavan, 6’1, F, 2020, Clay Center
A smart forward who brings strength and speed to the floor. He’s a savvy player who can use his shoulder to feel for positioning then turn and knock down a fade over a taller player. He has a high basketball IQ and gets out of bad situations through experience and skill.
