As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2021 class
Kyren Angelo, 5’8, G, 2021, KC Washington
A smaller guard with poise and flexibility. He is a smart defensive player who can tip away and opponents dribble and finish on the other end. He is good at selling contacting get to the free-throw line and connect. He loves to pass in transition and can flip the ball around his opponent and into the hand of a teammate waiting for an easy layup. He has quick hands and a great pull up jumper off the glass.
Kris Daniels, 5’10, G, 2021, Lawrence Free State
A nice guard who can handle it and shoot. He is a smart defender and moves his feet well and looks to stay in position and forces opponents to make mistakes. He plays big and is a good shooter and can come off screens and roll out to the top. A nice versatile piece who does what a guard should.
Jacob Webb, 6’0, G, 2021, Shawnee Mission South
Webb Is a defensive player who can dribble some and get on the board. He’s good in transition and is smart with spacing and is has his sweet spots on the floor where he feels most comfortable shooting. He’s a good passer and likes fast team play up and down the floor.
Kyun Jackson, 6’3, G/F, 2021, Sumner Academy
Jackson plays inside more than he’s probably comfortable with but he shows a lot of heart and determination under the basket. He’s a good rebounder and cleans up place and is good at getting to the free-throw line. He uses his shoulders to feel for position and is a good player in transition. He can shoot from distance and has proven he can defend on the block and at the top of the key.
Mathew McLntyre, 6’3, G/F, 2021, Saint James Academy
Another versatile player who has to play inside an out. McLntyre can shoot well and handle it some but has to be versatile when he’s on the floor as a defender and an offensive player. He plays hard regardless, and looks to connect forced turnovers and give his team an advantage.
