As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2020 class.
Andrew Sonner, 6’4, F, 2020, Olathe East (Pictured)
Sonner has a big strong frame and plays a powerful game inside. He has a natural feel for screening and popping out and is very good at playing around the glass on both ends of the floor. He’s a very good shot blocker and an underrated shooter away from the basket. A big man who can really do some damage.
Zach Davidson, 6’8, PF/C, 2020, Augusta
Blessed with elite height Davidson is a player who can have his way with the competition when he’s in the zone and feeling confident. He’s very good around the glass and has solid footwork and speed which allow him a slight advantage. He can disrupt offenses and is a shot blocker in the paint and transition game if he’s the last person and opponent has to beat.
Jerome Goosen, 6’5, F, 2020, Andover Central
A fluid player who can operate as a wing player around the perimeter and can also move inside and score and assist in the paint. He runs quickly and has in-game quickness and shake. A very skilled player who can put up points or dominate a game without scoring as he can be the glue guy that keeps everything together.
David Brown, 6’5, F, 2020, Homeschool, NLHA 17 SILMON
An interesting player who puts a lot into his game. He can get on the board and is good at slipping from the low post to the high post. He is also a player that defends well and runs the floor. He stays with his man on defense and can be active in transition. He can also shoot and does so well when he’s comfortable.
