As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2020 class
Gunner Hutson, 6’2, G/F, 2020, Circle
A strong athlete with good speed and confidence. Hutson has a good basketball frame and a muscular body inside. He plays on the post a lot and is counted on as a wing or power forward who can get inside to score and then step behind the line and knock down shots.
Jack Fox, 6’4, F, 2020, Collegiate
Fox plays inside well and is good around the glass. He runs the floor and is great at scoring in transition around the rim. He has a strong body and brings good speed and physicality to the floor. He gets in people’s faces on defense and looks to disrupt the flow of the game on his side of the floor.
Michael Mannis, 6’2, F, 2020, Mulvane
An undersized forward who sees time in multiple sports. Mannis has a good body and is active on both ends of the floor. He doesn’t have to score a ton of points to make a statement. He looks to score when he has the open shot, but is good on the boards and works to get in position and his hands on the ball. He also looks to block shots and keep plays alive in transition.
Peyton Price, 6’4, F, 2020, Kingman
An underrated forward who sees a lot of floor time and gets buckets near the basket. He’s an athletic player and moves well inside. He can play an in-and-out game and he has good speed and energy. He rebounds well and swats passes down and blocks shots and gets steals underneath the basket. A do-everything player who works hard and has good ideas with the ball.
Jamauri Jordan, 6’3, F, 2020, Arkansas City
Not the most athletic forward, but one with a good feel for the game and understands his role. He has good handles for a forward and good vision for playmaking. He gets on the wing some and passes well and sets solid screens and sells contact underneath. He cuts well and is looking to score when he moves inside and gets on the glass.
