As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2021 class.
Tanner Hecht, 6’3, G/F, 2021, Wamego
a long and rangy wing player who can share the ball score on the perimeter and take the ball inside and score off the glass. He is strong for his build and has improved his handles and defensive awareness. A player who can play physical on both ends of the floor.
Isaiah Esquibel, 6’2, G, 2021, Topeka
Esquibel is a flashy guard with the skill set that translates to buckets and assist. He has very good handles and can get around opponents with his speed or shake them off with his combination dribbles. He has good length for a player his size and has a great feel for the deep ball and the mid-range game.
Matthew DeLeon, 5’10, G, 2021, St. James Academy
A sharpshooter who can score several feet behind the three-point line. He has a great feel for the floor and can find angles and shoot off balance some. He has good speed and it’s getting better at handling the physicality a defense presents when he drives inside and looks to score.
Scott Riddle, 6’1, G, 2021, Blue Valley West
riddle is a player who can shoot lights out in a moment’s notice. He has a great sense of drive and is very competitive on the defensive end. He shows amateur play making at times and is a good pass her to the block and the high post. An underrated player who can make a splash.
Harrison Braudis, 5’10, G, 2021, Bishop Miege
A nice guard who has great handles and is good at feeding the ball inside. He understands ball movement and is also great at driving to the basket and scoring or passing it off to a post player. He can shoot well and is very good at connecting from the free throw line. He has in-game quickness and a surprising bounce for his size.
