Standout Teams at UGA Team Camp
In this article:
UGA Team Camp was held last weekend at Stegeman Coliseum and Ramsey Student Center. Many teams left a great final impression with the school season approaching in a few months. Here are the teams that stood out at UGA Team Camp:
The Walker School– Walker had an impressive showing in their Saturday exhibition against Hustleville. Led by the three-headed monster of Omar Cooper, Christopher Newell, and Chandler Baker, the team plays a fast-pace and scores the ball very efficiently. Cooper led the charge at the point guard position and set Newell up perfectly for countless scoring opportunities. Like his brother, Cooper excels at changing pace in the open court. Baker matched the productivity in the backcourt with his dominance in the paint and on the glass. Walker looks fully prepared to dominate Class A next season.
Grayson HS– Led by incoming transfers, Caleb Murphy (Norcross transfer) and Toneari Lane (Shiloh transfer), Grayson played well in a showdown against Southwest DeKalb. Murphy finished with 16 points and showed his versatility on defense with 4 steals. Lane finished with 15 points, including 3 three-pointers. It should be interesting to see Grayson’s team next year as they boast some of the best guards in the state.
Hustleville– Led by Coach Jeff Baker, Hustleville played well in a hard-fought loss in overtime to Walker. The game provided one of the more exciting matchups of the camp in Chandler Baker vs. Mike Edwards. Edwards complements the team with his great intensity and physicality on defense. Hustleville competes and scores the ball well from all three levels.
The Skills Factory (TSF)– The Skills Factory has a great reputation of being one of the top club programs in the state. They put on a show at UGA Team Camp. TSF is a well-coached team that plays with high energy at all times. They are very balanced with great athleticism, ball handlers, and shooters at every position.
Chatooga– Chatooga played well in their Saturday game against Tallulah Falls. They have great spacing on offense and are vey gritty defensively. Chatooga impressed me with their three-point shooting. Jamarious Mosteller is very athletic for them at the guard spot. Chatooga should be a solid team this upcoming season.
