With the grassroots circuit underway this offseason, several guards in Kansas’ 2020 class are putting together strong performances and raising their profile in the process.
Below are several guards who have raised their stock with a strong performance.
Eric Davis Jr. 6’0, G, 2020, Wichita East, Kansas MTXE 17U
PICTURED: Davis Jr. is an extremely athletic player who has great speed and upper body strength. He is a patient player who waits for openings and then puts his head down and gets to the basket. He fights through plays and handles himself well on the defensive end. A player who makes solid decisions with the ball and looks to distribute.
Alton Easley Jr., 5’10, G, 2020, Turner
Easley has a solid game that and can do more for his size than meets the eye. He can rebound, defend the ball at a high level and switch out and defend some inside. He is also a good ball handler and can avoid problem areas and find openings and go inside to score. A nice backcourt player.
Caden Hurla, 5’7, 2020, St. Mary’s, SSA Elite 17U White
Hurla is a smart guard who can play either guard position. He has a smart way of getting shots off quickly and can drive inside and score. He has good movement with and without the ball, a player who finds minutes through his playmaking for others and his threat as a scorer.
Alyus Wisdom, 6’1, G, 2020, Free State, Primetime Ballerz
A sharp player with good size, strength and athleticism. He has a solid offensive game and looks for shots that most players would pass up. Wisdom loves the mid-range and can connect from the corner or straight ahead. He plays his part off the ball but is at his best when he’s hustling around the floor and cleaning up plays.
Jadeon Vermillion, 5’8, G, 2020, Andale, Kansas MTXE 17U
A fine guard with good speed and ball handling skills. He’s a creative player and looks to score, pass and jump passing lanes and get openings on the opposite side. Vermillion plays bigger than his listed height and moves well off the ball. He shoots well and has a nice shooting stroke with a high release.
