Prep Hoops spent Saturday at the Sizzlin Summer Shootout in Greenville at Bob Jones University. The event featured 3 pool games plus 2 bracket games on Saturday. The Sizzlin Summer Shootout featured 24 teams in the event hosted by Greenville HS. Still trying to fix somethings with my photos. Sorry about that.

Bryce McGowens, Josh Owens, Patrick Iriel and Robert McCray all sat out the Sizzlin Summer Shootout this weekend.

Jaquarious "JQ" Jones had unofficial 28 points in the game vs Legacy Early College. The Red Raiders were missing a few kids like several others teams with 7 on 7 Football going on I nthe Palmetto State. Ben Jones (2020) stayed hot with his play for the Red Raiders today.

The Legacy Early college Lions finished the weekend at (5-0) under Head Coach BJ Jackson. The Lions added a few new pieces to the puzzle this season in Jacobi Wright (2021) and Ike Cornish (2021). Wright ranked #3 in the Prep Hoops Palmetto State Class played last season at Fort Mill HS. Cornish 6'5 comes to the Lions after playing last season Dulaney HS in the Baltimore, MD area.

The Lions also added Kavion Morris from nearby Greenville Tech. Morris has great length for a guard and has the ability to clash to the cup. Morris will be a good fit for this already talented team.

[caption id="attachment_778540" align="alignnone" width="300"] Jaheim Dodd[/caption]

The Berea HS Bulldogs should see some good times this season with some young prospects coming up the ranks. Savion Brown (2022), Jaheim Dodd (2022), Jonathan Penderman (2021) and Jemarkus Boozer (2021) will provide the leadership this season. Brown plays with Team South Carolina / JE Elite on the Grassroots circuit while Dodd and Boozer play with the South Carolina Blazers. Penderman is the Quarterback for the Bulldogs on the football field.

Laurens HS will rely on Leonard Williams (2020) and Dee Foster (2020) this season for production. The Raiders named Josh Chavis new head coach of the program this week. Chavis is a former USC-Upstate player from 2007-2011. Former Head coach Ryan Walker has left and taken the job at North Myrtle Beach HS.

Dorian Miles (2020) had a strong showing finishing around the basket and converting on several free throws. Miles 6'6 undersized post player plays at Eastside HS.

CJ Plantin will be counted on a for big season for the Westside HS Rams. Plantin (2020) has seemed to be in hiatus over the past few seasons since leaving Legacy Early College. Xavier Thornton got hurt early vs Cardinal Newman and left the game. Thornton picked up a offer from Voorhees College (SC) this weekend.

[caption id="attachment_778539" align="alignnone" width="300"] Harold Johnson[/caption]

Cardinal Newman has a enough firepower to prevail again for the SCISA Class 3A State Championship next season in Sumter. Harold Johnson (2020), Thomas Tyler (2020), Joshua Beadle (2021) and Silas Christie (2021) will lead this squad. Johnson transferred in from nearby Denmark-Olar where he has been a fixture since the 8th grade season.

Ben Saunders had a strong showing for St Joe's Catholic (Greenville) on Saturday. Saunders (2021) just 15 years will be a junior this coming season and wears already a size 16 shoe.
