Derrick Fields (2020) – Travelers Rest HS
Fields 6’4 was on a mission today in his first game vs Sumter HS. Fields was finishing at the rim with both hands and also at times above the rim. Fields is extremely active in the passing lanes with his quick hands and length. Fields plays all over the and can defend multiple positions on the floor. Fields excels on the gridiron for the Devildogs as a wide receiver.
Case Roach (2020) – Travelers Rest HS
Roach just brings great toughness to the game. Roach and Fields will NEVER take plays off and it just makes these players Winners in my opinion. Roach moves well without the ball in his hands and just brings constant energy to the floor. Roach will rebound on both ends, get you a bucket, take a charge or dive on the floor for a loose ball. Roach has received offers from Coker University (SC) and North Greenville University (SC).
Jai’Breon FergusonJai’Breon Ferguson (2020) – Greer Middle College (Taylors)
Ferguson 6’4 is back for the Blazers for his second season. Ferguson started off his career at Woodmont HS as a freshman before moving to California. Ferguson was hurt last season for the Blazers. Ferguson a left-handed rangy wing player really likes the ball in his hands. Ferguson handled the ball up the floor for the Blazers and at times brought it coast to coast in transition. Ferguson connected on some 15-17 foot jumpers today. Greer middle College is located just outside of Greenville in Taylors.
Javon Benson (2020) – Ridge View HS (pictured on the front)
Benson 6’8 is ranked #4 in the 2020 Prep Hoops Palmetto State Class. Benson has the ability to play face-up and knockdown the 3 ball. Benson keeps the ball up high and rebounds it very well on both ends of the floor. Benson has good timing on his ability to alter and challenge shots in the paint. Benson will look to help the Blazers try for 3 straight state championships this coming season in the Class 4A ranks.
Ben Jones (2020) – Greenville HS
Jones has really surprised me the this month for the Red Raiders. Jones 6’3 shooting guard has a quick release and very deceptive first quick step. Jones moves really well without the ball and showed great body control going to the basket. Jones has made great strides this June for the Red Raiders.
Cody Cowan (2020) – Greer HS (pictured on the front)
Cowan 6’6 was on fire at times today from downtown for the Yellow Jackets. Cowan plays on the perimeter and defends in the post. Prep Hoops first Cowan play with GSP Unified with Fields, Roach and Jones. Wow how time flies when in high school. Cowan kept the Yellow Jackets in a battle Ridge View HS until the end when the Blazers pulled it out by 2.
