Brandon Mitchell-Day 6’5 Team Ramey CCM: A multi-talented wing player from MICDS with a big upside. He is capable of playing any position on the court, including point guard, which he did for his high school team. He is a solid ball handler with excellent passing skills and a high basketball IQ. He is also a very capable shooter from the perimeter. Brandon is an excellent rebounder on both ends of the floor with his size really helping him grab his share of offensive rebounds.
B.J. Taylor 6’2 Knights Basketball Academy: An athletic wing player from DeSmet who excels at both ends of the court, he helped lead his team to the semifinals of the 15U tournament. He handles the ball well and attacks the basket on the dribble with excellent results. He also moves well without the ball and will rebound and play defense at a high level.
Aaron Ledgerwood 6’8 Missouri Flight 16U: A young post player from Glendale who has impressed me in both of the tournaments I’ve watched him play at the 16U level. He has excellent size and good fundamentals in the post to go along with it. He does a good job of taking up space when he posts up in the lane and he finishes well in traffic. As he continues to gain physical strength, he will continue to grow and develop into a more formidable player inside.
Cohl Vaden 5’9 Victory Ministry Blue 16U: A young point guard from Webb City who I got a chance to watch for the first time in St. Louis. He is quick and he can really shoot it from downtown. He plays with excellent pace and he is fearless, even when playing up at the 16U level. Not being very big doesn’t seem to bother him at all.
Brennan Lovette 6’4″ Knights Basketball Academy: A very skilled young wing player from DeSmet who can excel inside or on the perimeter. He does an excellent job on the wing as he can use his size to see over defenses for good passing. He has the ability to score in a variety of ways as he can knock down jumpers off the dribble or drill open 3-pointers. His fundamentals are good and his skill set is vast.
Nate Straughter 6’2 Gateway: Young shooting guard from Chaminade who displayed the ability to knock down 3-pointers on a consistent basis. There were a couple of games where he made at least four to five 3-pointers. He also brings good size and athleticism to the mix along with his ability to score.
