Continue ReadingThis upcoming weekend is the first ever “High School Live Period” where D1 colleges coaches will be able to evaluate prospect. The premier event in the state of Illinois for the first live period of June 21-23 will be the Riverside Brookfield Summer Shootout. We have already given you the schedule now it is time to breakdown some of the players to watch at the event. The group of shooting guards and small forwards from the state is the strength of the tournament. We dive into them here!
There will be 10 wings from the state at the event that rank inside the top 24 overall! That is an insane amount of D1 talent. At the top are two in the top 5 overall in Keshawn Williams (Bloom) and Isaiah Rivera (Geneseo). Each will have an array of high-major and mid-major plus coaches tracking them all weekend. Ramean Hinton (Curie) leads the next group with his high energy and non-stop motor. Jayden Johnson (Batavia) and Dante Maddox are two of the best shooters in the state. Jeremiah Williams (St. Laurence) and Antoine Bloxton (Bogan) have seen their stock skyrocket in the last six months! Connor Kochera (St. Viator), Christian Shumate (Plainfield East), and Darius Burford (Bolingbrook) each hold D1 offers coming into the event.
The 2021 group actually might be even better with 10 wings in the top 20 overall prospects expected to be in attendance. It starts with the #1 overall player regardless of class in Illinois Max Christie (Rolling Meadows). Christie however will not play due to rest from a crazy June with USAB and camps. He is joined by fellow prospects ranked inside the top 10 Bryce Hopkins (Fenwick), Ahamad Bynum (Simeon), Isaiah Barnes (OPRF), Jaylin Gibson (Evanston), and John Poulakidas (Neuqua Valley) who will all draw a crowd!
