The now 6-foot-11, 240-pound big man continues to develop with his body and game and he’s been running this spring with International Elite. His improvement and confidence level continues to grow and as he’s started to pick up college recruiting interest, Pellicci is hopeful that things keep on moving in the right direction.
“We’ve all played really well together and it’s been a good experience,” Pellicci said. “WE’re getting some chemistry going so hopefully we can go further later this (AAU) season. We’ve fought through adversity and it’s been a good learning experience. It’s always fun to get out of Oregon and see what the competition is like.”
From an individual standpoint, Pellicci has been happy how things have worked out for him as well. “My post moves have really improved and my footwork – compared to last year it’s been a huge jump,” Pellicci said. “I give all the coaches the credit and they’ve been very meticiulous with my footwork and making sure I do it right and not just doing a whole bunch of drills for quantity but more for quality. I’ve started to learn how to guard little guys and Coach (Allan) Brown and Coach (Nate) Bowie have been coaching me all through that.”
College coaches have gotten word about Pellicci and have seen some potential. This month, the high-academic student is hoping to showcase himself even more by attending elite camps at American, Dartmouth, and possibly UC San Diego. “They’re liking how I move for my size because usually you get pretty clunky guys at my height. They also like the way that I pass and finish,” Pellicci said. “Hopefully good things come out of (the camps) and that can sprout into a couple of offers.”
Pellicci understands what’s in front of him and is excited about showing what he can do this month at the camps, school ball, and then back with International Elite in July. “It’s really just trying to get as much interest as I can and get my points up,” Pellicci said. “I’ve been calling for the ball and I’ve been getting the ball – I just need to keep working on finishing, going up strong and dunking on people. That’s the mindset I’ve got to have, to dunk it on someone every single time. My goal is to dominate every single game.”
Pellicci currently ranks as the #35 player in the PrepHoops Class of 2020 rankings.
