For the entire month of June, DeJurnett has been playing with the Lynx, and the team has been impressive since the month started. DeJurnett has developed a consistent mid-range jump shot. He has been excelling in pick-and-roll action with Lausanne’s guard play of Jalen Bo Montgomery, Dylan Woods and Dylan Andrews.
DeJurnett, who was invited to the Memphis Elite Camp over the weekend, took an official visit to Campbell University, which offered him at the end of the visit after participating in the school’s elite camp.
DeJurnett is very impressed with the offense as the Camels play position less basketball. For the Lynx, DeJurnett has been playing at center, but at Campbell, the coaching staff informed the 6-foot-7 power forward that he will be playing positions 3-5, with primarily playing time at the four spot.
“They said they like how I can put the ball on the floor and shoot and drive because they want all five players to be able to push the ball up the court,” DeJurnett said via text.
I asked DeJurnett if he was comfortable playing with a team that has an identity of having players playing at multiple positions. He didn’t think the situation was bad at all.
“Definitely,” DeJurnett said about being comfortable playing position less basketball. “I feel like I’m comfortable enough to have the ball in my hands and push it up the floor.”
Latest on Jalen Bo Montgomery
DeJurnett’s teammate, Jalen Bo Montgomery, is receiving a lot of interests from Rhode Island. The 6-5 combo guard mentioned to me through text that the Rams are “recruiting me heavily.”
As of right now, Montgomery doesn’t have any visits setup with schools, but plans to start taking visits in the fall.
Rhode Island likes to run a fast break type of offense with screens to setup good scoring opportunities for the backcourt. Montgomery will fit well in the Rams’ offense because of his athleticism to get out in the open floor and finish at the rim.
