Recruiting Report: Quincy Allen (2021)
If you’ve never seen Quincy Allen play, you’re missing out. The versatile wing from Maret is one of the more recruitable prospects you will find in the local 2021 class. Paul George, Devin Booker and Cam Reddish are three players who Allen says he enjoys watching.
“PG, just his versatility at 6’9. I can see myself like him a lot. Defensively outstanding, can score the ball,” said Allen when asked to describe what he likes about the aforementioned players. “Devin Booker and Cam, shot creating. How they get their shots off.”
While shot-creating is certainly something that Allen excels at, he’s recently shown an inclination to make others better. We saw this on Friday night at DC Live when he handed out 8 assists in a win over Coolidge.
“I try to go out there and try to find my teammates the best I can. But I definitely think its an underrated part of my game, my passing,” Allen stated.
Schools like Clemson, Florida, Georgetown, Georgia, Maryland, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest have been consistently keeping in touch with Allen since June 15. Coaches mentioned versatility, shot-making, and defensive potential as admirable parts of his overall game. While he is not planning any visits until after Peach Jam, Allen said he wants to check out NC State, Stanford and Syracuse.
Why those three schools?
“Location, and I like their style of play a lot. I want to fit in where I can do my thing but be also part of a system.”
Allen says he prefers a fast-paced playing tempo. Still within a system, but being able to play his game while also keeping discipline within an offense.
What can he bring to a college program down the road?
“Shot making, energy, IQ, defensive stops.”
