Sioux Falls O’Gorman, who was 18-6 this past winter, was at Wisconsin Badger Team Camp last weekend and they went a perfect 6-0 in the event.
“I thought my team played very well this past weekend,” Jack told Prep Hoops. “We share the ball really good and get everyone involved. We have a very close team with high chemistry which will play into our hands next season. The camp as a whole was very competitive and I liked it a lot. There were a lot of players that I have seen around AAU tournaments competing against each other.”
O’Gorman returns Cartwright along with Akoi Akoi and Zach Norton who were all key pieces to the Knights second place run this past March.
“Next year for High School ball we are returning a lot of key players from our team last year,” Jack said. “We’ll have more experience than most teams and I’m very excited about that. Our ultimate goal as a team is to get back to the State Championship and come out on top this year.
“We also have other goals that can help us get there including defending our home court and setting ourselves up in the rankings as best as we can throughout the year.
Jack CartwrightJack also plays for the South Dakota Attack, one of the top performing teams in the Midwest so far this year.
“For my Attack squad, playing with the friends that I get to every summer is a blessing that I never take for granted,” Jack said. “My teammates have helped me become a faster, stronger, and more consistent player over the years and I have built some life-long relationships while doing that!”
When Jack isn’t competing with the Attack or O’Gorman, he’s working on his own.
“The main thing that I work on in the gym is developing a consistent midrange shot and finishing around the rim.”
Cartwright has another valuable item ahead of him, deciding where he wants to play his college basketball. South Dakota talent is playing at college programs in regular numbers these days and Jack is a top ten level senior in the state. And he’s hearing from a load of college programs.
“For college I want to find wherever is the best fit for me and I can get a good education,” Jack said. “I’d like to do something with business while in college, and win lots of games while doing so.
“The college programs that I have been in contact with include Morningside College, Dakota Wesleyan University, Northwestern College, Briar Cliff University, St. Thomas University, University of Jamestown, Bethany Lutheran College, Mount Marty College, Lawrence University, University of Sioux Falls, Augustana University, Minnesota State University Moorhead, and Northern State University.”
