Toby Frazier‘s Golden Eagles are coming off a school-record 25-4 season that saw Jacksonville Paxon reach the Class 6A final four in Lakeland.
“The whole goal is just to get better, since we had a good season last year,” the 6-foot-6 Adams said while competing at FABC Fort Lauderdale. “We just have to build on it because everybody is coming for us since we were at the top. So the whole goal is just to stay there and get better.”
The rising senior was impressive at both ends of a 53-35 victory over Delray Atlantic at South Plantation High School. Adams produced at the rim, showed he could he hit the short jumper and also drilled two 3s on the way to a 23-point performance. He grabbed at least 9 rebounds and had 6 blocks.
Adams, who plays with Team Parsons on the travel circuit, was the Florida Dairy Farmers’ Class 6A Player of the Year as a junior. He averaged 19.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals per game.
The left-hander has scholarship offers from Iowa State, TCU, St. Louis, FAU, North Florida and Georgia Southern. UCF, Florida, Florida State and Virginia have shown varying degrees of interest. He grew up an FSU fan.
“He’s not leaning toward anywhere [right now],” coach Frazier said.
“I’m looking for the school that I fit in best at and that I can thrive academically,” Adams added.
Paxon will be a problem for opposing foes again this winter.
Everyone is back, including Maurice Willie (2021, point guard); Micheal Caswell (2020, wing); Ja’kobe Williams (2021, guard); and Quinnton Jackson (2021, guard).
“The whole team comes back from the final four team,” Frazier said. “It’s been a joy to coach this group.”
The program’s only losses in 2018-19 were to Bishop Snyder in the opener; to Forest Hill; Andrew Jackson; and to St. Pete Lakewood in the 6A state semifinals.
