Lyman helped West Fargo to a 21-6 record last year averaging 11.6 points a game on 48 percent field goal shooting, 66 percent foul shooting. Hunter was top five in the EDC in rebounding at 7.7 a game and top five in blocks with 44.
How is Hunter keeping himself busy this summer?
“My high school has a lifting program, so every day of the week I lift at my high school,” Hunter stated. “I have 3 AAU tournaments in July (with ECI) and 1 team camp this week. I am also going to Minot State elite camp in August and Mayville State elite camp in June. I also just went to the Duluth elite camp and U of Mary elite camp.”
With all that travel, and a potential college football career as well, Hunter has a nice list of teams calling him about college athletics.
“U of Mary, Minot State, Valley City State, Concordia-Moorhead, University of Northwestern, Bemidji State, Minnesota-Duluth, Jamestown, Mayville State, and Minnesota State-Moorhead (for football), ” Lyman said. “I want to go into teaching and coaching and I want to play college basketball but college football is still open for me. I play WR/TE and DE In football.
“And I’m going to Visit Valley City State this summer.”
Several of these college programs will get a look at Hunter when he takes the court with ECI this July. The ECI Prospects have been an excellent 20-4 on the season thus far.
“The competition in AAU is really good and it’s great to go against someone really good every game and compete,” Hunter said about playing with ECI. “One of the things I have gotten help from playing AAU is the people I go against are always doing different things and I’m leaning on what to do from the different situations.”
Lyman is also learning about what he needs to do on his own time to become a better basketball player.
“I am working on my face up game, my ball handling and also my range by putting up 300-500 shots a day with my teammate Carson Hegerle.”
Hegerle and Lyman are joined by Matt Miller and Carter Birrenkott as experienced returning players. West Fargo has big expectations once again.
“Our team will be interesting next year we have some good players but then we need some players to step up for us,” Hunter said. “Our team needs to mostly improve on our defense, because our offense will come throughout the season. Our goals will be to just go out every game and compete against one another and improve as the season goes on.”
