At 5’11, Mason can do it all at the guard spot. He is a point guard that can score, pass and put the ball in the basket from all three levels, showcasing creative ball handling ability, can get to the basket and finish in traffic and is a threat from beyond the arc, able to consistently make deep 3-pointers off the catch or the bounce. He is a vocal leader and a player who loves the game and leaves it all on the court.
He is spending the offseason running with MoKan Elite’s 16U sqyad and says the experience has helped him grow as a player.
“I want to get bigger and I want to be a player that will consistently give you 20 and 8,” he says.
A two-year starter, Mason averaged 18 points per game last season as a sophomore.
“My high school season this year was good but was a bumpy road there were a lot of games that slipped through our hands and I also felt I could have been more productive,” he says.
Mason says his dad — a former standout collegiate and pro player — has had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“He was a professional basketball player and I got to watch him play a lot and that made me fall in love with the game,” Mason says.
A fan of LeBron James and Russell Westbrook, Mason says he has taken aspects of both player’s games and made them his own.
“My favorite players to watch are Lebron because he is just the best ever and Russell Westbrook because he plays with so much passion every single games and plays like animal and that’s what I want to put into my game the all around player with a killer instinct,” Mason said.
Although he doesn’t hold any offers, Mason has drawn significant interest from a host of programs, including Wake Forest,Nebraska ,Mizzou, Missouri state , Minnesota , Nevada, Arizona State, Colorado and others.
