One of the local products that stood out last weekend at the Adidas Gauntlet Regional Qualifier in DC last weekend was 2021 Angelo Brizzi of Team BBC. Brizzi continued to show off great shooting but also did a nice job of getting teammates involved and showed a lot of toughness and energy. All of this is extra impressive as he was playing on the 17U side of things for the first time this spring.

“I have been playing 16s the whole Spring this past weekend was my first time playing 17s but for 16s we have been playing well and got ranked top 5 in the country, undefeated on the adidas circuit right now so everything is going well.”

He mentioned that he enjoyed the challenge of playing up, “It is different, a little more physical, bigger bodies, stronger guards but I think I handled myself pretty well.”

Brizzi had a good high school season playing for the Highland school and is continuing to show that he can play a vitale role on a winning team during AAU.

“I played for the Highland School in Virginia and it was a pretty successful season and I think we finished like 28-6 but got knocked out of states earlier than we hoped but otherwise it went well.”

His game has surely opened the eyes of college coaches as he currently has three offers from Columbia, Howard and Pepperdine and is receiving interest from, "Virginia, Northwestern, Marquette, Davidson, Penn, Cornell, South Carolina."

He was able to break down two schools that he has picked up offers from.

Columbia: “I have always wanted to go to a high academic school so something like an Ivy league or something like that has always been something big for me.”

Howard: “That is a brand new offer, I got that last weekend but I know the coach and I like him a lot and it seems like a good situation too.”
