Quaker Summer Slam: Top Performers
A few of the top performers from this years 19th Annual Quaker Summer Slam in the greater Seattle Area of Washington!
#3 Markell Jackson PG, Foster High-School C/O 2021
An athletic and speedy point guard with one of the best layup packages from the tournament. His quick handles allowed him to shake defenders and get where he wants to go on offense. Looks to get the ball up the court as fast as possible and drive or kick to teammates. Was able to create his own shot whenever he wanted.
#44 Brandin Riedel PF, Capital High-School C/O 2020
A very skilled power forward with lots of productivity on both sides. Likes to sit in the low and mid post, screen players and turn and face and attack one on one. Brandin squares up to the hoop well and attacks aggressively but takes high percentage clean looks in the paint. Goes up and gets rebounds with two hands and two feet. His size allowed him to get plenty of second-chance points from missed shots offensively. Very good at creating shots for his teammates from the post due to solid court vision. Brandin has interest from multiple D1 colleges in the northwest, keep an eye out for this forward.
#23 Messiah Jones PF, Kamiakin High-School C/O 2021
A two-way athlete with basketball and football at Capital. Athletic, strong sized forward with a dominant inside presence on both sides of the floor. Able to finesse to get to the cup, needs to work on his finishing touch around the rim. Has solid court vision from the post, making the right decisions to distribute or take it one on one to the rim.
#4 Maui Sze PG, Roosevelt High-School C/O 2020
Under-sized point-guard with quick handles. Very well put together on the offensive side. Outstanding stroke from beyond the arc and mid-range area. Able to create space and shake defenders with his quick crossover and ball-handling skills. Excellent court vision on both sides of the floor. Fast, sneaky passes to teammates. Has solid footwork, allowing him to stay in front of defenders on d. Looks to create contact going up on fast breaks — high IQ player.
#5 Connor Mirick PG/SG, Roosevelt High-School C/O 2020
A combo-guard that has solid dribbling skills and moves. Shows leadership on the court and during team huddles. Pushes the ball on fast breaks and distributes well in transition. Likes to get the ball in the mid-post area and go to work. Possesses a great pull up jumper. One of the best catch and shoot players in the tournament; took high percentage shots and was very consistent throughout the tournament.
