At 6’1, Reid is a tough, scrappy player who enjoys playing defense and pressuring opponents with the ball. He can knock down 3-pointers off the catch or the bounce and can create his own shot. Reid also shows good court vision and can find the open man. He averaged 18.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game last season for a Maize South squad that went 16-6 overall.
He has spent the offseason running with NLHA Gaddis 17U squad and says the experience has helped him compete against players from across the region and work on his game.
“Playing with NLHA this year has been really fun,” he says. “It has given me the chance to play against a lot of good players from different areas. I feel like it has prepared me for the school season by competing at a high level and keeping me in shape.
“This offseason I worked a lot on my shot off dribble, finishing at the rim, and a lot of strength training.”
Reid says his sister has been the biggest influence on his basketball career.
“I grew up watching her play the game and travel the country with her summer teams,” he says. “I always loved traveling and being able to watch her so it influenced me to want to do the same thing.”
A fan of several smaller guard, Reid says he enjoys watching Portland point guard Damien Lillard the most.
“He’s good at getting his shot off, off the dribble and off of screens,” Reid says. “I like to watch how he reads and comes off the screen and try to implement that into my game.”
Although he has not yet receiver any offers, Reid says he has gotten several letters and camp invitatios from a wide range of schools, including Concordia University, University of Chicago, Fort Hays, and Drexel University
