Prospect Spotlight: Ricky Peters (2020)
Ricky Peters, a class of 2020 wing from Fairfax High School, has been a consistent standout both at the high school and AAU level these past few months. Peters described the transition he’s made as he reunites with his high school mates during the month of June.
“For high school we run our offense, but for AAU we just push the ball,” he explained. “Everyone gets a touch. No ball-hogs, its just fun.”
At 6-foot-1 170+ pounds, Peters is a good athlete who is generally responsible for defending the opposing team’s best perimeter player. He is adept at scoring in transition where he can fill the lanes and attack the rim. Peters mentioned that he’s worked hard to develop a consistent perimeter jump shot which we should begin to see more frequently.
“The coaches tell me to shoot more because I can shoot,” Peters stated. “I’m just looking to shoot more this season and during the AAU season.”
Off the court, Peters is a tremendous student who sports a 3.7 GPA. He hopes to major in Business at whatever college he attends.
What are his current goals?
“Short-term, to expand my ball handling and become a better guard. Also developing a better jump shot and knock down the three more. My long-term goals are to stay focused in school and maintain my good grades.”
