At 6’3, 163-pounds, Thomas is a long, rangy wing player whose defense often times stands out more than his offensive game. With his size and length, Thomas is able to defend multiple positions and alter shots.
Thomas says competing in the offseason has helped his game grow and prepare him for a bigger role this season. To that end, he says he is working on his game and adding new things.
“Playing in the prep hoop circuit for two years has helped me prepare for the varsity level at royal valley, coming in as a freshman,” he says. “In this offseason I’ve been working a lot on my shooting and scoring inside.”
A year ago, Royal Valley went 7-14 overall and Thomas says the team mixed in youngsters alongside a handful of seniors.
“We were a pretty young team, only having three seniors, and three freshman stepping up for the varsity level,” Thomas says. “This past season gave us a lot of experience.”
Thomas says his grandfather has had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“My grandfather has been my biggest influence on my career for basketball, he has helped a lot by taking me to practice and games,” he says.
A fan of the OKC Thunder’s Paul George, Thomas says he enjoys his skill and all-around game.
“I really enjoy watching Paul George play the game,” he says. “He can shoot the ball very well and can get to the basket. He is also a very good defender.”
