He had to sit out last season due to a state transfer rule. Smith played grassroots basketball with The Program where he’s averaged about 20 points per game and 12 rebounds per game.
Smith is a talented prospect with a nice skill set. He has a knack for finding buckets and plays with a scorers mentality. Smith is a physical force and an aggressive rebounder on both ends of the floor. This helps him pick up easy points with put backs. Smith is a weapon on the defensive end. Not only does he limit second chance opportunities with his work on the glass, but he can also get off the court and block shots.
Chris Smith is focused on improving as a player and gaining experience. He is currently focused on working on his jump shot. Smith is itching for high school season to start, since he wasn’t able to play last year. He’s especially eager to play against Saginaw High School and Flint Beecher. Smith has spent his spring and early summer getting in the weight room, putting in work at the gym, and playing grassroots basketball.
Smith has a lot to offer a college basketball program. First of all, he has the mentality and skills conducive to someone that can be a Division 1 basketball player in the future. Smith will provide a college coach with grit and heart. There won’t be a player on the floor that goes harder than this young man. Smith will provide any team with a confident and vocal leader on the floor.
Chris SmithChris Smith has a desire to be great. He wants to play college basketball at the highest level. Smith wants to be great in order to help his Mom and make sure that she is comfortable and safe. When asked what his motivation is, Smith simply replied: “My Mom and God.”
