Junior Bryson Perry hopes to combine with his brother Jackson to be one of the best back court combinations in the region. Bryson described himself as a “Quick guard who can get a bucket at any time but can also make the right play for the team.” Capable of playing either guard spot, Bryson told me his strengths are passing, scoring and leading his team but that he can sometimes be too unselfish when he needs to be more assertive.
With his Sophomore season in the rear view mirror, Perry told me, “My high school season went pretty well. I received more minutes as the season went on and eventually earned my first varsity start. I grew as a player a lot this season.” In order to be the difference maker he wants to be moving forward, Bryson has been playing with CKY Edge this spring and colleges have taken notice of his skills. He told me he has seen a big uptick in his recruitment, “I have received about 20 to 30 camp invites from schools such as South Alabama, Youngstown State, Lincoln Memorial, Oral Roberts University and many more. I get emails all the time from coaches.” Looking ahead to his big Junior season, Bryson’s focus is on getting his team to the postseason success that has eluded Model over the years, “My individual goals for next season is to lead my team to a region appearance, win the district, and ultimately make myself and my teammates better.” If the back court of Bryson and Jackson Perry can really elevate their games over the next 8 months, Model could certainly find their way to the 11th region tournament in March.
