At 6’7, Farmer brings defensive intensity to the floor and a willingness to do whatever it takes to help his team win.
As a junior, Farmer averaged 13 points, 5.4 rebounds and shot 56 percent from the field and helped Perry-Lecompton finish 23-2 overall last season, including a third-place finish at the Class 3A state championships.
“We had a good year,” Farmer said. “We were league champions, sub-state winners, and got 3rd place at state. Every game we got better. We ended the season on a great note. Looking forward to doing it even better next year.”
He says he is focused on improving his outside shooting, ball handling and defense tnis offseason and the experience of playing for Grindstand has helped him work on those skills against tough competition.
“I’m wanting to bulk up more so I’ve also been weight lifting.
Farmer says his summer coach, Chris Piper has had the biggest impact on his basketball career to date.
“ He taught me the fundamentals and how to better myself,” Farmer said. “He has helped with my confidence too.”
A fan of the Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic, Farmer says he enjoys watching the all-around game of the big man.
“I like how he plays as a big man but also that he’s an all around player,” he says. “I try and implement his style and focus into my own game.”
Although he currently does not hold any offers, Farmer says he is excited about what his future in the game may hold.
“I love basketball, and to play in college would be fantastic,” Farmer says.
