Continue ReadingEastern High School has had a couple of down seasons lately but with a great 2022 class, the Eagles could push for a trip to Rupp Arena in the next 3 seasons. Andrew Patterson is part of a strong group of rising Sophomores that can be difference makers over the next 3 seasons. Andrew describes his game as a big time scorer. “I am a knockdown shooter who likes to lead and get my teammates involved. I like to score and get a lot of points but I also like to do the little things, especially on the defensive end when it comes to rebounding and communicating with my teammates on the floor.” Patterson said his strengths are shooting, passing and playing aggressive defense but was quick to acknowledge his biggest deficiency on the court is a lack of strength but he is working to get stronger.
Patterson was part of one of the best groups of freshmen in the city of Louisville. Andrew told me, “My high school season went pretty well. Obviously I had my ups and downs as any freshman would. But our freshman team finished 23-1 and was the best in the city. I got better in all aspects of my game and learned a lot from our coaches.” This spring, Andrew is spending his second year with the Kentucky Ambition program and he is very happy to be a part of the Adidas Silver program, “It’s a great program and has set me up for success on the court but also off the court. Without Kentucky Ambition and Julio Anthony (Director) I would not be the basketball player I am today.” Patterson enjoyed the spring AAU season and is looking forward to July, “So far our AAU season has gone pretty well. We are playing on the Adidas silver gauntlet and are traveling and playing all over. Over these past couple of months I have picked up interest and camp invites from 8 different colleges and am learning how to be a more position-less player as what you now see in the NBA.
As he is continuing to grow and develop, Andrew Patterson has seen an increase in exposure with college coaches. He tells me that several schools are involved with him early in the recruiting process, “I have received 8 different college camp invites from coaches. They include Kentucky Christian University, Pikeville, Lyon College, Case Western Reverse University, Arkansas Tech, Lincoln Memorial University, Loras College, and the University of Indianapolis.” Once he gets through the AAU season, Andrew will shift his focus to his Sophomore year at Eastern and improving as a player and helping his team. “My goals for my high school season are to learn something new each and every day. But something I am gonna try to focus on is trying to be more consistent on the court.” Eastern should be a formidable team over the next 3 seasons and Andrew Patterson should be a factor in their coming success.
