In both settings, 2021 SG Alexis Reyes was productive and showed leadership. He has a nice skillset, plays with lots of intensity, and has a prototypical body for an SG at the next level. Reyes recently attended the Pangos All-American Camp with the top prospects in the country. Here is an update on where he is currently and what’s ahead.
At Pangos, Reyes played on a loaded team that included Evan Mobley, Moses Moody, Daishen Nix, and others. He proved to be an asset to the team and was rewarded with a selection to the Top 60 Cream of the Crop Game. When discussing his experience at Pangos, Reyes said “It felt good to see where I have to improve my game and what I have to focus on long-term.” In camp settings with a lot of other talented players, guys have to find different ways to get involved and impact the game. It’s not shocking to see that Reyes was able to do that as he can do a multitude of things on the court and does not dominate the ball.

Playing on the E16 circuit, Reyes has taken on other top 2021 talent and shown that he is a threat against any competition. After a nice showing against Meanstreets in Atlanta, I watched him and the team in Indianapolis where Reyes put up 25 points and 10 rebounds in a statement win over a top E16 team, Team Final. “The spring has gone very well, I feel like I have improved in my scoring ability. I feel like I have proven to be a known name on the E16 circuit,” said Reyes. His production matches those thoughts, he averaged 22 PPG in the two full games I watched this spring. He does many other things also. Reyes stays active on both ends, rebounds well (9 RPG in those 2 games), and is a willing passer. Regarding his strengths, Reyes said “I feel like I bring a great motor to the team and I can get people open shots so they can show their scoring ability also.” His versatility and energy made a huge difference in the 2nd half of the Team Final matchup, allowing Expressions to hold on for the victory.
Reyes has gotten a good bit of early recruitment and should be getting more as the contact period for 2021 prospects opens in less than two weeks on June 15th. Having already received offers from Illinois, Rhode Island, and St. John’s, Reyes also mentioned a few other programs that have jumped in. “A good amount of schools have been on me so far like UMass, Providence, Iowa, Temple, and Boston College,” he said. That lines up with my thoughts on him as I could see Reyes being a popular recruit for Big Ten and Big East programs. His size at 6’5-6” is attractive for an SG and he brings good defensive qualities to go along with his aforementioned offensive ability.
I am looking forward to seeing where Reyes’ game and recruitment head in the summer months. He has already learned to play hard, do the little things, and possesses the skills that college coaches look for. If he keeps up his current level of production while adding bits and pieces to his game, he will be very pleased with the results in the near future.
