Continue ReadingDon’t forget the name Aidan Rubio. The 6’6″ small forward has put his name firmly on the map this spring. He’s in the class of 2021 and attends Goodrich High School. Rubio played spring grassroots basketball for The Program 16u. While playing this spring he averaged 18 points per game, 10 rebounds per game, and 4 blocks per game.
Rubio has a nice mix of physical characteristics and basketball skills. He fits nicely as a small forward where his size allows him to shoot over top of most defenders. Rubio can also score by putting the ball on the floor and attacking the bucket. He’s a very versatile player that can effectively play multiple positions. With his size and athleticism, he can be seen guarding the 2-4. Rubio uses his size and his bounce to be an excellent rim protector. Offensive players must always be are of him, or risk getting the ball sent back.
Aidan Rubio is improving rapidly as he gains experience. He’s been in the weight room getting stronger and filling out his frame. He’s also been working on his ball handling so he can play more at a guard position. Rubio is focused on his defense. He wants to be stronger in transition defense and against shifty guards. Rubio will see the improvements as he continues to work and grow as a player.
Rubio is looking forward to showing off his game next high school season. He’s eagerly awaiting a matchup with Flint Powers. This is a rival school and also allows Rubio to match up with one of the states best players, Owen Lobsinger. Rubio is also excited to play against Carman-Ainsworth. He likes the challenge of playing a talented Class A team.
Aiden Rubio has goals both on and off the court. He wants to be a part of a high school regional or state championship team. Rubio would also like to play Division 1 college basketball someday. Off the court, he wants to earn a college degree and make his family proud.
The recruiting process is basically just beginning for Rubio. He certainly has a lot to offer to a team at the next level. Rubio is getting better as a player, and he’s doing it quickly. He has an outstanding work ethic, so that improvement should continue. Rubio will be valuable to a college team with his versatility and ability to get buckets.
