The league will be a nice stop for Division II, Division III and JuCo coaches to get eyes on potential prospects. We look at some prospects that we’ve seen before that we predict will be standouts of the league.
Marlon Lewis | 6’3 | Maryland Spartans ’21
Lewis will be on of the most athletic prospect you’ll find in the league. At 6-foot-3, Lewis has the reputation for having freak athleticism that allows him to put on a show in transition. With that being said, Lewis can also get it going from three. His release is a little funky, but has had big performances where he has hit five or more from beyond the arc. Lewis plays with a good motor and is an above average rebounder for his height.
Darius Webb | 5’9 | Maryland Spartans ’21
Webb is a small, shifty point guard that, despite his height, can finish well around the rim with crafty lay-ups. He is quick off the bounce and can be a threat to turn the corner and get into the paint off of ball-screen actions. Webb can also shoot at a decent clip from three. His release is sometimes a bit slow, but when left open, he’ll make opponents pay. His quickness translates to the defensive end and allows him to pressure the ball and create turnovers to spark fast breaks.
John Godinez | 5’9 | Parkville ’20
Godinez will be a prospect that will catch the eyes of coaches who attend. His feel for the game, ability to score and the craft in which he plays with makes him an intriguing player. He can score in bunches from all three levels, but has the IQ to read rotations and find the open man almost every time. His height isn’t ideal for finishing around the rim, but Godinez is effective at getting his defender off the floor by utilizing pump fakes.
Jordan Strickland | 6’4 | Parkville ’20
Strickland has good size at 6-foot-4 to be a potential wing at the next level. JuCo coaches should be tracking him very closely. Strickland scores many different ways, but playing with Godinez in ball-screen situations has been proven to be successful. Strickland can catch and finish strong over the rim. When he isn’t hanging out around the dunker’s spot, he is on the perimeter where he can knock down three’s at a decent clip and display his ability take his man off the bounce. Strickland applies energy on the glass, especially on the offensive end of the floor.
Khalil Kosh | 6’0 | Ben Franklin ’21
Kosh fills many rolls for this Ben Franklin team. He shoots it well from beyond the arc, displays good vision with the ball and plays solid defense. Kosh won’t blow you away athletically, but he fills lanes in transition well when he doesn’t have the ball and finishes around the rim.
Emanuel Henriques | 6’3 | Ben Franklin ’20
Between Henriques and [Marlon] Lewis, there will be plenty of highlight reel dunks throughout the summer. With good size and athleticism at 6-foot-3, Henriques can overwhelm his match-ups and score in bunches. He’s at his best in the open floor where his athleticism can come to light, but also is a threat in the half court off the dribble.
