This spring, Biber began playing with Phenom University, swiftly becoming a top prospect in Wisconsin. “The move was good because the Phenom team has really good players that challenge myself each practice and the program is an EYBL program which is cool,” said Biber.
Prep Hoops Wisconsin’s senior contributor, Evan Flood, featured Biber in his 2021 highest risers, as he went from 60th to 20th in the class. His recruitment has followed suit, gradually beginning to take off. “Western Michigan and Holy Cross contacted my dad and seem interested in me and sometime in July, I am taking a visit to Western Michigan with my dad to meet the head coach,” said Biber (who also alluded to some addition division three interest).
And his recruitment should only heat up, as colleges everywhere have begun to sniff out Phenom’s prospects. Virginia has taken a stab at Phenom’s talent, offering Reece Beekman while showing interest to Tyrese Hunter and others. Meanwhile DePaul has handed out offers to nearly everyone suiting up in Phenom’s threads. Biber could be the next in line to experience that blow-up.
When asking Biber about his rising stock, it’s clear his work ethic has fed his progress. “I am working out three times a day,” said Biber. “7am to 9am is weight training, 12 to 2 is basketball skills and drills at my high school and then I go to Athlete Performance in Mequon and work Logan Zagrodnik and Steve Becker.” During the workouts, Biber specified that he’d be working to tighten his handle and move without the ball.
Overall, Biber is a talented, versatile forward who shines on offense. As a sophomore on varsity, he led Cedarburg in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game while knocking down 28 threes. His versatility manifested across the stat sheet, as he led the team in rebounds (6.2 per game) assists (3 per game) and steals (1.4 per game).
