Pangos Camp Standouts
Pangos Camp went off this weekend featuring some of the top players in the country. With over 20 plus games and two all star events, there was plenty of time for players to show their stuff. Here are some of the standouts from the 3 day camp.
Evan Mobley 2020 Rancho Christian (Ca)
The #1 player in the country showed exactly why he’s deserving of that ranking. At 6”11 he is extremely comfortable putting the ball on the floor or stepping out to knock down jumpers. He plays with a high motor and defends and rebounds with an underdog’s determination. With his handle and face up game, he is a match-up nightmare who has the potential to be one of the best big man prospects in years.
Dashien Nix 2020 Trinity Christian (NV)
The Alaskan native’s stock has been rising all Summer. At Pangos, Nix showed off both his intangible and tangible strengths. He has a tremendous feel for the game, a high IQ, and plays with a chip on his shoulder. He showed a solid handle and shot the ball lights out all weekend. At 6”4 he has ideal size to play the 1 and was one of the best passers at the camp. A relative unknown just a year ago, Nix has a legitimate chance to end up as the top PG in the class of 2020.
Cade Cunningham 2020 Montverde (FL)
Cunningham is a walking highlight reel. An elite run and jump athlete, he looked like he was a man playing among boys at times. If he gets his shoulders even with you, then consider yourself beat. When the 6’6 slasher’s jumper is falling, he becomes absolutely un-guardable at the prep level. He’s special in transition whether leading the break or running the wing. Cunningham left the gym buzzing numerous times with some spectacular finishes, including going between the legs for an in game dunk.
Maddy Sissoko 2020 Wasatch Academy (UT)
Sissoko was an absolute monster all week. He controlled the lane on both the offensive and defensive ends. He is an elite rebounder and rim protector. More of a traditional 5 he showed the skill to consistently step out and knock down mid – range jumpers. Finishes well with either hand around the rim. At 6”10 he possess the lateral quickness to defend when put in high screen and roll action.
Josh Christopher 2020 Mayfair (CA)
Christopher, AKA walking bucket is the most electrifying player in the country. A knock down shooter, with an explosive first step, Christopher oozes the “it” factor and is the one player everyone in the gym stops to watch. He’s actually a bigger, stronger version of Josh “Showtime” Selby. A special run and jump athlete, Christopher is merciless with his attacks on the rim, he caught a ridiculous lob that even had players on the opposite court turned up. At 6”4 his combination of speed and shooting make him an impossible 1 on 1 match up.
Scottie Barnes 6”7 University (FL)
Barnes is a stat sheet stuffer supreme. A versatile point forward, who can go and get it off the glass and start the break by himself, Barnes is an elite rebounder for his position and perhaps the most unselfish passer in the country. More of a slasher than a shooter, his ability to draw two and make on time on and on target passes, is what separates him from other players in this class. His entire package was on display against Oregon as he put up 10 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assist, 2 steals and 3 blocks.
