Whoever shot the ball most times was getting a very open look at the basket. Despite being an undersized team OCS rebounded the ball well, especially on the offensive end. They are a tough group to defend with lots of balance throughout their lineup. The game I watched them was one of the more impressive performances as a team considering who they were matched up against an athletic talented Grassroots squad. OCS trailed by double digits for most of the game, yet they had two chances to win the game in the final minute. I have to also mention that with 5 seconds to go down four they executed a beautiful play to hit a three-pointer at the buzzer, which is what summer is all about getting better. Expect a good season for this group in Class 3A.
Ethan Hodson 2020 Wing
Scoring is his specialty and he can do it from all over the court. Early in the contest, his three-pointer was falling with great consistency. As the game continued he started to go to his drive using a nice floater in the lane to score off the bounce. If you leave Hodson an ounce of room a shot is going up and hitting the bottom of the net more times than not. The confidence he plays with is fun to watch.
Jake Jennings 2020 Wing
The aggressiveness of Jennings made him stick out to me in the second half. He has a nice handle of the basketball allowing him to be one of the primary creators for OCS. On defense, Jennings jumped into the passing lanes and was not afraid to take charges. The aggression he showed was not just his drive to the baskets, but he played that way on defense, going up for rebounds, or any loose ball.
Mason Matteson 2020 Point Guard (OUT)
Unfortunately, Matteson was out at OU Team Camp due to a concussion he sustained at Football practice. Matteson is, however, a player of note when it comes to OCS. Look for him to have a great senior year running the show at Point Guard for this group.
