From a scouting perspective, here are the players from Southeastern Ohio who won the day:
5-on-5 Standouts
Caleb Terry (2020) | 6-10 C | Alexander / Hidden Gems Black
Terry proved, once again, to be a talented shot-blocker who knows how to utilize his length. Instinctual defender that knows when (and when not) to go after a rejection. Lanky athlete.
Jayvon Maughmer (2020) | 6-4 SG | Chillicothe / Mid Ohio Pumas (Beard)
Maughmer displayed his multi-dimensional offensive game by scoring about 10 points in just a few minutes in his 11:40AM game. He can use his body and length in transition. Game sloes down? Throw it to Maughmer on the wing. He’s deadly in the triple threat and can truly score it from all three levels. Smart cutter. Rebounds the ball.
Just another day at the office for Maughmer, really. Merrimack offered shortly after the event.
Luke Powell (2020) | 6-3 SG | Barnesville / Hidden Gems Black
Powell made shot after shot and didn’t need much space to launch his jumper. Impressive rip-throughs against elite athletes. Smart player.
AJ Clayton (2022) | 6-6 PF/C | Philo / All Ohio Red
Clayton shot the ball extremely well from distance. We didn’t know he had that in him, as he’s been cast more as a post-up guy in our previous viewings. Strong build.
3-on-3 Standout
Luke Powell (2020) | 6-3 SG | Barnesville / Hidden Gems Black
Powell’s rip-through into a straight-line-drive impressed. Becoming more capable of using his jumper to set-up other pieces of his game. Active screener and cutter away from the ball.
